About the client

An American artisan food brand built on handcrafting one gourmet category, sold as gift bags, curated gift boxes, resealable pouches and custom assortments. It has eight-figure annual revenue, a strong corporate and holiday gifting business, wide wholesale distribution through specialty and grocery retail, and a growing direct-to-consumer site.

Shoppers who knew the name found the site easily. Everyone searching for gourmet gifts, ingredient questions or product comparisons found competitors, and the direct channel was leaving organic revenue on the table. The direct channel had been growing steadily, but structural gaps in its search setup were capping it.

The challenge

01

Duplicate snippets were suppressing clicks

Eight or more high-revenue product and collection pages shared duplicate meta descriptions. The flagship collection held position 1 across 35,000+ monthly impressions and earned 8 clicks: a relevance problem in the results, not a ranking problem.

02

One blog post carried all non-branded traffic

A single ingredient-education article did the work of a content program, with no supporting posts and no links to commercial pages. Comparison and education queries in the category went unanswered.

03

No structured data, and Spanish duplicates

No Product, Review or FAQ schema anywhere, so a strong review average never showed in results. Spanish-language duplicates ranked for 14+ high-value English keywords, and the brand was absent from AI-generated answers.

What we did

Treat technical fixes as revenue work, rewrite snippets for buying intent, turn one proven blog post into a content program, then route its authority to the pages that sell.

  1. Fix the snippets

Gift bag revenue +193% month over month

In one sprint, duplicate meta descriptions came off eight product and collection pages. Each got a unique description built on award-winning positioning, a product differentiator, a call to action and a free-shipping signal. Review and rating schema went onto the highest-revenue products first.

  2. Match titles to buying intent

    Custom assortment revenue +224%

Pages ranking on page one with almost no clicks were rewritten first. Meta titles and H1s now carry the cues that separate an artisan product from mass-market results: handcrafted, award-winning, premium ingredients. Gift and custom assortment pages were aimed at high-intent gifting queries.

  3. Turn one post into a program

    Blog impressions +112%

The ingredient-education post was the proof of demand. New comparison guides, health-benefit, storage and sugar-free posts and category roundups followed. The comparison guide and health-benefits post together earned 48,003 impressions in their first reporting cycle, and the health-benefits post reached position 1.1 within days.

  4. Route authority and earn citations

    Cited in AI Overviews

The top post was linked to product and collection pages, a blog footer improved crawl paths, and parent collections were linked to sub-collections. 25+ backlinks from domains rated 43 to 96 pointed at seasonal and gifting collections, alongside Reddit engagement in 10+ relevant threads.

The outcome

Organic search is becoming a proportionally more efficient revenue driver. Snippet fixes, schema and internal links are being rolled out across the rest of the catalog, and the brand appears in AI Overviews for dietary-specific product queries.

Why it worked

On the pages that mattered, ranking was not the constraint; the snippet was. Fixing what shoppers saw in results turned existing impressions into revenue within one reporting cycle, while new content and links built the non-branded footprint for the next one. Review schema then let a near-perfect customer rating show up against mass-market listings that lacked it.
