About the client
A modern Ayurvedic nutrition brand in India that brings traditional formulations into everyday functional foods and supplements. The catalog spans several wellness needs, and the company sells direct online.
The brand and its catalog were strong, but most of its organic search strength sat in brand terms. The searches that define Ayurvedic wellness, for classic herbs and ingredients that carry hundreds of thousands of monthly searches, were going elsewhere. The opportunity was to win those searches and turn them into organic revenue.
The challenge
01
Non-branded discovery was under-indexed
For a brand with this catalog and recognition, non-branded organic search was smaller than it should have been. Most organic strength came from people who already knew the name, not from new customers discovering it.
02
High-volume ingredient searches went uncaptured
The ingredient and category searches that define the category carry hundreds of thousands of monthly searches. The brand sold products for each of them but was not yet ranking for them.
03
Rankings and revenue moved separately
Where pages did rank, the path from the listing to a product was inconsistent. Rankings and organic revenue behaved as separate systems, so visibility rarely turned into sales.
What we did
Target the demand the catalog already matched, rank for it, capture the non-branded reach, then connect those pages to product so discovery converts.
Target
100 keywords improved
Prioritized the high-volume ingredient and category searches where the brand had the product but no ranking. Each target was chosen for real search demand and a clear product match, so any ranking gain had somewhere to send the buyer. About 100 targeted keywords improved within the month.
Rank
29 targets moved to #1
Pushed those category and product pages up the results. In a single month, 29 targeted keywords reached position 1 and 43 reached the top three. Across all tracked terms, keywords in the top three rose from 418 to 498, a 19% gain.
Capture
+40% non-branded impressions
Turned rankings into non-branded reach across category, product and blog pages. Non-branded impressions rose 40% month over month, and blog impressions rose 63% as the editorial surface widened. This was new demand reaching the brand, not existing brand search.
Convert
Rankings tied to revenue
Connected ranking pages to product across the category tree, so a shopper arriving from an ingredient search had a direct path to buy. This is the step that tied search visibility to measurable organic revenue instead of leaving it as a discovery metric.
The outcome
Organic search is now a measurable revenue channel. Category and product pages win high-volume ingredient searches and convert them, and the same system is being applied as more ingredient and product terms move to page one.
Why it worked
The demand already existed and the catalog already matched it. The gains came from ranking for the searches buyers actually run, then linking those pages to product, so each layer fed the next: targeting created ranking opportunities, rankings created non-branded reach, and that reach converted into revenue.
