About the client
An established Indian kitchen appliance brand, from cooking and ventilation to small appliances, selling to households that are upgrading their kitchens.
A growing share of those buyers now research appliances on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini before they buy. In October 2025 that channel sent the brand about a thousand visitors a month and no revenue. The goal was to capture that demand and make AI search a measurable revenue channel. The program was measured on AI platforms only, so every number here reflects traffic, citations and revenue from AI engines rather than classic search.
The challenge
01
AI search was unmeasured and unmonetized
About 1,006 users a month arrived from AI platforms, with no strategy to grow or convert them and no revenue attached to the channel.
02
Global brands owned the answers
Appliance questions on AI engines were answered with Bosch, Neff, AEG and Philips. The brand was rarely cited for Indian kitchens.
03
Pages weren't citable
Collection and product pages lacked the structured answers, FAQs and schema AI engines need to cite a source, so high-intent queries on chimneys, hobs and air fryers went unclaimed.
What we did
Structure the page, answer the question, earn the authority, convert the referral.
Structure
116 AI citations in May
Rebuilt collection, product and blog pages with FAQ schema and extractable answers, so AI engines could read and cite them. Citations reached 116 in May 2026, up 21% month over month from a starting point that had not been tracked at all.
Answer
#1 citation rank on OpenAI
Built comparison and buying-guide content matched to the exact questions Indian buyers ask AI engines, from ducted chimneys to built-in hobs. The guides target the questions where global brands had been the default answer. A chimney buying guide now holds the top citation rank on OpenAI's models.
Earn
Displaced global brands in answers
Built backlinks from sites with domain authority between 60 and 95 to priority collection and blog pages, strengthening the trust signals AI engines weight when choosing which brand to cite. The brand displaced Bosch, Neff, AEG and Philips as the cited answer for Indian kitchens.
Convert
Perplexity users +336% MoM
Optimized high-intent collection pages so AI referrals convert, and tracked citations and revenue platform by platform, so each engine's contribution is visible. One ChatGPT-referred hob page now drives about 34% of revenue from AI search, and Perplexity grew to 5,623 users in May, the second-largest AI source after ChatGPT.
The outcome
AI search is now a recurring monthly revenue channel for the brand, after producing almost nothing in October 2025. The same system is extending to air fryers, dishwashers and the next product categories.
Why it worked
AI engines cite pages they can read and sources they trust. Structuring pages for extraction earned citations, citations and backlinks built authority, and conversion work on the collection pages turned the resulting referrals into revenue. Each layer depended on the one before it.
